March Week 3

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

As Christians we are to discipline ourselves to studying the word of God, this will allow us to distribute the word of God properly and effectively to Christians and non-Christians. When we study the word of God we are presenting ourselves as a good workman. The Discipline means a systematic, rigorous training of the mental, moral, physical powers by the instruction or exercise of self-control books of rules and order.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Studying the word of God brings about a purging in us that will allow a much greater presence of God’s authority and power to be more evident and more affective in our lives.

4 Things to remember about the word of God

1. God’s word is quick, alive, and living it is not inept or inactive, but it is powerful and active.
2. God’s word reaches the inner secrets of man’s mind and heart and is a discerner of even the thoughts and the intents of the heart.
3. God’s word will meet you and finds us no matter where you are, we are unable to hide from the word of God.
4. God’s word is compared to the sharpness of a two-edge sword because it has the ability to cut on both sides and to restore the same. The word of God cuts, divide, mends, heal, restore, brings life, encourage, give direction, and has the ability to create. No matter who you are, if you allow God’s word to work it will bring life to you.

Studying the Word of God will also help you began to understand who you are and the authority that you have through and in the Spirit of God. Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
